Outdoor-Inspired Decor Themes For Indoor Wedding Venues

If your wedding is taking place during the cold fall and winter months but you wish you could hold it outdoors, you can give your indoor venue an outdoor-inspired decor theme. Bring elements of the outdoors in to give any venue a fresh touch.

Some indoor wedding reception venues that you can use a nature decor theme in include ballrooms, conference rooms, country clubs, receptions halls and private spaces, such as theaters, restaurants, and museums. An outdoor-inspired look will work well for both elegant and casual venues, as you can completely customize the look.

If you're on a tight wedding reception budget, you can work both real, free elements of nature and items you already own into the scheme. When purchasing new pieces, be sure to pick things that you can reuse at home to make your money stretch further.

To give the venue a personalized look, choose an outdoor location or a natural theme that holds meaning for both you and your spouse-to-be. The destination could be the place that you met, or where you had your first date.

Here are some outdoor-inspired decor themes to consider for your wedding venue:

1. Beach Theme

If your favorite place to visit is the beach, or if you're planning a tropical honeymoon, use that as your wedding venue decor inspiration. Start by covering the guest, wedding party and cake tables with turquoise tablecloths, and wrap cloth napkins with rings featuring seashell or seahorse designs.

Tall glass vases filled with sand, shells pillar candles will make casually elegant table centerpieces. Some other ideas include vases of tropical flowers, such as hydrangeas and birds-of-paradise, either real or faux pineapples, and vibrantly colored floating candles.

2. Garden Theme

A charming garden theme will give any indoor venue a quaint, relaxed feel. Use a romantic garden cottage as inspiration by choosing white wicker rental furniture, airy white tablecloths, and floral-patterned cloth napkins and chair cushions.

Keep table centerpieces simple by filling clear or vintage milk glass vases with handfuls of wildflowers or sweetheart roses, or fill antique bird cages with an assortment of candles. Choose floral-patterned tableware, and serve guests' drinks in country-inspired canning jar glasses.

Some other garden-themed decor ideas include an ivy-wrapped archway at each entrance, vintage crystal chandeliers or wrought iron lanterns suspended above the tables, plenty of real or faux plants, and seed packet guest favors. Have the wedding details custom-printed on the packets.
